Mary Corey, DVM

  (...and Petey the Cockatiel.)

Dr. Mary Corey is native to northern Virginia. Born Washingtonian, a "Child of the Sixties," Doctor Mary grew up inside the Beltway. She schooled at Whittier Junior High, then attended Falls Church High School, graduating in 1977. Her childhood buddies always included dogs, cats, horses, and a variety of other four-legged critters, large and small, yet some had more legs, and others no legs at all. More than natural curiosity ran through her attractions; she grew in her desire to heal and to help.

Our aspiring doctor went on to Blacksburg where she attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute and studied Biochemistry. Upon graduating Cum Laude, she moved next door to attend the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine, completing her training in 1988, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.

She practiced veterinary medicine on the staff of noteworthy New Jersey veterinary hospitals through mid-1998. When she returned to northern Virginia, Doctor Mary spent the following two and a half years as a clinician in emergency medicine at the Regional Veterinary Referral Center in Springfield, where she discussed her aspiration to open a unique practice. During the end of her tenure as an ER clinician and with the encouragement of the referral center, she constructed her dream. With the close of the millennium year 2000, she opened Stream Valley Veterinary Hospital, her new--and we hope your new--veterinary hospital.
