Nutritional Counseling

Your Pets Are What They Eat!

Nutrition plays an important role in overall health. Our medical staff can recommend youth, adult, and senior maintenance foods to promote and sustain good health.  We can also dispense prescription diets to address medical issues including diabetes, allergies, renal disease, gastrointestinal distress, and arthritis.

Should

My Pet Go Grain-Free or Raw?

Current trends suggest that grain-free and raw diets may be the best options for our pets.  These diets would require overhaul of pet food conventions.  However, research and industry experts have found no across-the-board benefits to these nutritional paths, and in fact, there may be some dangers.

Click here to read about why corn, for example, is such a nutritious grain ingredient (from Hills, the makers of Science Diet).  Also, click to read veterinary nutritionists' and professionals' perspectives on grain-free diets and on raw diets.

If you have any concerns about your pet's diet, we're happy to help.  Whether you suspect allergies, notice a decline in mobility, or think that your pet could stand to lose a few pounds, we can assist you in finding the food that meets your pet's health and nutritional needs.  To schedule an exam and nutritional consultation, please call us at (703)723-1017.  We are located in Broadlands / Ashburn, Virginia, and we serve clients from Western Loudoun County to Leesburg/Lansdowne to Brambleton to Sterling/Dulles and beyond!
