Meet Our Trainer
Melanie Friedman
Melanie Friedman has been training dogs for over 15 years. In that time, she has helped countless families build happy relationships and have fun with their dogs by applying modern positive reinforcement science-based training methods. Training makes your life easier by teaching good manners and living within the rules and structure of family life.
Melanie became a professional dog trainer with the help of her reactive Australian Cattle Dog, Boomer, using only reward-based training. After seeing remarkable results, Melanie made it her goal to help other dogs be happier using practical, effective training and ethical training methods.
Melanie contracted with the Veterans Administration to train a variety of skills for service dogs.
Melanie also had the privilege to train the first courthouse dog in Calhoun County, Alabama. Additionally, she has worked with Auburn University on a contract with Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency to train dogs to have an MRI while fully awake to study how their brains process odorant information.
Education is a big passion for Melanie and she attends multiple seminars and conferences every year to keep current with the newest in dog training and behavior science. Melanie is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer through the CCPDT, a graduate of the Karen Pryor Academy Dog Trainer Program, an AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator, Fear Free Certified, Canine World Hoopers Instructor, a Certified Trick Dog Instructor and Stunt Judge with Do More with Your Dog. Melanie lives with 3 dogs and participates in Musical Canine Freestyle and trick training with her dogs.
