Abby, Kennel Attendant, Dog Trainer
Abby is an accomplished dog trainer with a degree in Animal Science from VA Tech University and 10+ years of dog training experience. It all started when she adopted her first dog, Riley, when she was 12. Riley was a re-homed Australian shepherd who seemed very confident when she met him at his farm. However, it soon became obvious Riley had never been off the farm or socialized. He had major separation anxiety and noise phobias. This was the beginning of Abby’s journey learning about dog behavior while developing her dog training skills. Riley required a lot of specialized training to help resolve his anxieties. Abby started taking him to a variety of new settings to help ease his fears, joined a 4-H dog training club and began weekly classes at a dog training facility. She then started agility training to help build his confidence. It took years but eventually Riley overcame most of his anxieties. Riley and Abby earned many titles/awards in obedience, rally, and agility. He even became a certified Therapy Dog, visiting nursing homes on a regular basis. Some of his more notable achievements include qualifying for the first ever AKC National Rally Competition in 2012 (while Abby was still a Jr. handler) and their 6th place finish! He was the first dog she trained and handled to qualify for Agility Nationals (2013, and 2014). Riley retired after earning his MACH title, Master Agility Champion.
Abby has many years of teaching experience, including working with youth handlers with special needs. She has been a volunteer with the VA Dog 4-H Program for many years, teaching basic manners, Rally, and Agility at local clubs in Fauquier and Fairfax County. Currently she teaches agility twice a week and enjoys working with clients who have behavior concerns.
According to Abby, “Riley is really the reason I love training dogs. He started out shaking in a corner at his first dog class to traveling around the country competing at national competitions in various dog sports. It AMAZES me the progress that he made. I now have two Border Collies: Usher and Ruckus. Usher is another re-homed dog whose notable achievements include several podium finishes at regionals, 6th Place finish at AKC Agility Nationals (2017), and 5th Place finish in Steeplechase at USDAA Agility Nationals (2017). Usher & I were members of the AKC’s 2017 ‘Team USA’ that represented the United States at the European Open Agility Competition in Italy. What an honor and a privilege to compete with the best dog and handler teams from over 40 countries! Ruckus is my young Border Collie who is just starting out his agility career. I’d love to help you learn to connect with your dog and help you achieve your behavior and training goals!"
Shannon, Kennel Attendant (Picture coming soon!)
We’re happy to welcome Shannon, who joined us this past June, to the Stream Valley Kennel team! She graduated from South Lakes High School in 2014, and thereafter began her pet care journey full time. She brings with her years of experience and love for animals from local pet care facilities. During her time at Stream Valley, she hopes to learn more about dog behavior, general caretaking, and animal grooming. In the future, she would love to grow more in the medical field, eventually becoming a vet assistant and going back to school as needed.
Shannon currently lives with her mom and step-dad. She also has an older brother and younger sister who live with her dad. Her older sister lives in New York with her husband and Shannon’s niece. She also has 2 dogs and 2 cats: Daisy, Rita, Lucy and Jemi, plus a saltwater reef tank filled with colorful fish! In her spare time, Shannon enjoys being around nature. She loves going for hikes, picnics, kayaking, fishing, and anything else that is an outside activity. Reading, writing and watching movies are also activities she enjoys!
Kelsey, Kennel Attendant
Kelsey became a member of our Stream Valley Kennel team in August 2020. As a local to the area, she currently attends Freedom High School. With previous experience of doing food prep at a community farm, she has a good grip on making sure daycare and boarding dogs are properly fed during her shifts.
Kelsey's family is very close and enjoys spending time together, along with their soft-coated Wheaton terrier. In her spare time, she likes being around animals and grooming dogs, as well as playing lacrosse and doing arts and crafts. Her biggest goal for the future is working as a dog groomer and possibly managing her own grooming salon. Welcome, Kelsey!

Sabrina, Kennel Attendant
Sabrina joined our Kennel team in November of 2020. She's grown up in the Ashburn, VA area, and is currently a senior at Stone Bridge High School, where she'll graduate this spring of 2021. Sabrina's previous experiences of teaching preschool gymnastics and caring for horses show her capability of caring for our daycare/boarding pets. Having always loved animals, it means a lot to her that she is able to provide such amazing care for our client's pet when they board at SVVH. She also enjoys observing the doctors and vet techs, along with learning more about small animal care and medicine during her shifts.
Sabrina lives with her parents and is 1 of 4 siblings. Her older sister is a child caretaker for Loudoun County Public Schools, her older brother is a sophomore at Christopher Newport University, and her younger sister is in 8th grade. She also has a chocolate lab/pit bull mix named Tootsie, a yellow lab puppy named Biscuit, and she's leased multiple horses over the years that feel like her pets too! Outside of work, she rides horses competitively, loves playing the piano, guitar, and signing. Sabrina also loves reading, running, and spending time with her pets. In the future, she would love to graduate with her Bachelor's Degree in Equine Science and Environmental Science in 2025, and ride professionally along with working with horses. Her ultimate dream is to work for National Geographic or DisneyNature!
Roya, Kennel Attendant
Roya became a member of the SVVH kennel team in November of 2020. She's grown up in Ashburn where she's lived most of her life, and is currently a junior at Rock Ridge High School. Working at Stream Valley is her first job, and we are thrilled to be the first stepping stone in her career! She hopes to learn a great deal about animals along with gaining experience, then ultimately going to vet school to someday open her own veterinary practice.
Roya has a total of 4 pets at home, which include 2 grey tabby cats named Luna and Leah, a toy poodle named Baron, and a hamster named Snowball. She lives with her two brothers (who keep her busy!) as well as her mom and dad. In her free time, she rides horses and rides on an equestrian team. Roya also volunteers through various clubs at school such as Leo Club, National Honor Society, Pre-Professional Health Honor Society, Environmental Club, Rock Ridge Phoenix Obsidian Club, and the American Sign Language Honor Society.
Megan, Kennel Attendant - Shift Lead
Megan has been part of our kennel team since October of 2019. After a year of working at Stream Valley, she was promoted to a shift lead to supervise other kennel attendants. Megan was born in Reston, but has spent her life living in Ashburn Village. She is currently a senior at Broad Run High School, where she will graduate in June 2021. As working at SVVH is her first job, she didn't have too much experience in the field, but she has found a passion in helping the hospital staff during free time in her shifts. Megan hopes to continue being a part of the team through her college years to gain more experience and a better understanding of veterinary practices.
Megan currently lives with her mom, dad, and her 11-year-old sister. Together, they have a grey & white domestic shorthair cat named Smokey, and orange tabby named Cheshire, a German Shepherd/Shiba Inu mix named Stella, and a Beagle mix named Bolt. Outside of work, Megan enjoys playing the cello and volunteering with clubs at school. She also reads to cats at the Loudoun County Animal Shelter and cooks meals once a month that are handed out to anyone who needs them. In college she plans to double major in Psychology and Education with plans to teach English in foreign countries.
Our Kennel Attendant staff is generally comprised of area high school and college students. As they are likely among your friends and neighbors, our staff treats your pets just as they would their own, with care and skill that is backed by our Kennel Management and Veterinary teams.
