Lucky is my baby boy! When I was younger, I begged my parents for a dog. They eventually gave in, and we went to an adoption event that was being held in PetSmart somewhere in Maryland. I really wanted a puppy, but my parents knew we wouldn’t be able to be home for long periods of time for training a puppy. So, we ended up checking out a white 8-month-old schnoodle.
This guy looked so skinny, scared, and barely had any hair on his body. The volunteers explained that he was brought to them as a rescue. He was in a dirty house and it sounded like he was kept in a crate with other dogs outside, all day long. This pup looked so sad that my parents and I just said, “We’ll take him in.”
Since then, he became my little guy named Lucky, because he was lucky to have made it to a home where we know he would be taken care of and loved so dearly. We were told that he was frightened by men, which made it take a long time for Lucky to get close to my dad. Thankfully, my dad knew how to be patient with Lucky and found a way to have Lucky trust him.
Fast forward 16 years later, Lucky is still thrilled to be with my family. He wags his tail no matter what (especially during dinner time), and will always give us a kiss. I am so grateful that we had the opportunity to adopt this little guy. I am beyond proud to call him my “little old man.”
